Arizona Senator Jeff Flake On Trump: This Isn't The Republican Party
Arizona Senator Jeff Flake says he’s concerned about the future of the Republican Party if it continues to be associated with Donald Trump. The drama of election season dominated a town hall with the senator in Phoenix on Friday.
This isn’t the first time Flake has spoken out about Trump. At the event, the Republican said the position he’s taking on the matter isn’t an easy place to be.
"But I think that somebody has to push back and say this isn’t the Republican Party," he said. "If we don’t, I think that we’ll consign ourselves to political oblivion."
Flake said he will not be voting for Democrat Hillary Clinton either. When asked if he would vote for a presidential candidate at all he said, "You can always write somebody in."
The senator also addressed questions on immigration policy. He said if Republicans do lose the White House, he hopes they’ll take another look at issues like comprehensive immigration reform.
